“A farewell is always tough, so we re gonna aim to refrain tears and spread joy, fun and happiness.” More...JUSTICE
Do you remember playing Wham’s Wham Rap at Bugged Out in November 2005? Is it still in your record box?
“Hey yes, I’m impressed by your memory. Sure we still have it, on a CD that we called "uptempop" which is admittedly the worst play on words ever, but it makes the cd browsing easier and faster. I remember we were warming up in the lounge so we wouldn’t play hard stuff and that's quite a perfect Saturday-night-hedonist-youth party starter, isnt it?”
What will you miss most about playing at The End? What did you like about the venue?
“To be honest we're not really attached to the walls, we like this place because we love Trash, Durrr and Bugged Out of course. These are the only parties we've played at The End, indeed (and the only parties we've been hanging in without playing) and this is what we’ll miss. Another special thing about The End is that we've never played there without Erol, so thank you for applying the rule one last time.”
Will you be leaving in a police car at the end of the night?
“It’s so hard to get a cab in London at night that we’ll happily use any private transportation to get back home.”
JOJO DE FREQ
What can we expect from your last set at Bugged Out at the End?
“Well I'm playing the late slot in the main room, so I'll be taking it deeper, a bit of cosmic, a bit of kitsch, a lot of electronic sounds, and normally I don't play anything overly distorted in the late slot. It will be the time to space-out, not rock-out, but don't worry maximal fans, one thing I've never been accused of is being dull. They'll be some surprises too. Sometimes these are the most satisfying sets for me (and hopefully everyone).”
What will you miss most about playing at The End?
“The excitement to the build up to playing there. It's always a major gig in my diary, which I spend a lot of time preparing for. It keeps me on my toes and I like feeling challenged. I'll really miss the family feeling there too. I've gotten to know some of the people who work there, and there are always old and new friends popping up. Playing in this kind of environment makes what I do more personal and fun.”
Where did you usually hang out? Did you have a favourite spot?
“I'd usually start out in the VIP, say hello to some people and end up behind the booth listening to the DJ on before I'd play and I'll always run into friends there.”
What has been your favourite Bugged Out night at The End?
“That's difficult, as there is quite a few. The Birthdays are always big, I missed this years but I think 10, 11, 12, 13 were all pretty special! I've had a lot of really amazing late nights sets where the lights have gone up and I've been totally stunned by how many people were still left cheering at 7am. And playing with Miss Kittin has definitely had its great moments. The last one in December was crazy. There has been too many to list here really!”
What tunes define the night/period for you?
“Well, I think there have been two sounds for me in my 5 and half year residency there. In the first few years I played the late slot a lot from about 4 to 7am, so my sound was deeper and more electronic and I played a lot of innovative sounds, a kind of a psychedelic journey, but quite intimate too. Some big records for me in this mode were 'I Feel Space' by Lindstrom, Mathew Jonson's 'Ultra Violet', Oxia's 'Domino' and my fave secret surprise bootleg of Corona's Rhythm of the Night over Bookashade's ‘White Heat’. Then there are the more peak-times sets that are a bit more party-ish and eclectic and sometimes quite intense. A couple examples of big tunes for me in these sets would be like Switch's Remix for P. Diddy, Trentemoller's remix of Tomboy's Flamenco, SMD's It's the Beat, and the time I dropped the Prodigy's 'No Good' at the 11th Birthday (waaaay before nu rave!) and the main room exploded."
What do you think Bugged Out should do next? Where should we go?
“Try to find another venue. Do some one-off's in different places. Put on some live stuff. How about a festival? Book me, ahem.”

BRENDAN LONG
What will you miss most about playing at The End?
“I've always played in main room at Bugged Out, either on warm up duty or closing the room. I'll really miss DJing in the middle of the room, you really feel like you're in the centre of something special. I'll also miss playing on THAT sound system and of course Gideon, the greatest sound tech I've ever worked with.”
Where did you usually hang out? Did you have a favourite spot?
“Most definately main room back right behind the DJ booth. Very rarely left that spot.”
What has been your favourite Bugged Out night at The End?
“Hmmmm, very tough. I think I've missed one party since you guys moved there. As a DJ my favourite was definately DJing in the main room after DJ Hell. As a punter they've all blurred into one, Ivan Smagghe's late night sets in the lounge are a definate highlight and Jojo has played some belters late on in the main room.”
What do you think Bugged Out should do next? Where should we go?
“That's not for me to say, I have complete faith in the team to find a suitable home for the legacy to continue. Not Ministry though.”
